International Table Tennis Federation Hopes Training Camp Brazil – Table Tennis News
The International Table Tennis Federation has launched a Hopes Programme for the development of table tennis throughout the world. The Brazilian Table Tennis Confederation organised a Brazil Hopes Training Camp at the National Training Centre in Sao Paulo
from 8-10 April.
The camp was organised for young table tennis players between the ages of 11 to 12. Lincon Yasuda was the coordinator of the Brazilian National team along with Nelson Machado the talent Detection Coordinator of the country, were the key players in organising
the camp.

The Executive Director of the ITTF for the teaching and training Mikael Andersson said, “It’s good to see that the ITTF Hopes Programme now is starting to generate activities on national level. It is something that we are looking to encourage even more in the
future.”
The programme consisted of four training sessions and two meetings of one hour each in order to motivate the young kids and clear their doubts and explain the future policies. The training programme included the multi-ball sessions with the senior playing
partners.

Mauricio Kobayashi addressed the kids and held a 30 minute session on explaining the importance of the game. Mauricio had played a key role in developing the game over the years, as he has vast experience of the game in the country. He also assisted the coach
of the national team Hugo Hoyama in carrying out the training sessions.
Hoyama also shared his personal life as a professional table tennis player. He has won ten gold medals in the Pan American Games. Hoyama also gave technical tips to the kids and encouraged them to be dedicated to the sport if they want to excel in it.
The event was a special one for the city, as some of the participants can also get a chance to feature at the training camp held by the ITTF in Austria. These programmes will become a mandatory part of the ITTF calendar and will be held regularly in all
parts of the world around the year.
Table tennis is not a very popular sport in certain parts of the world. Most of the leading players in the present scenario have emerged from the Asian region. The top two players on the current ITTF World Ranking are from China. The ITTF is hoping to develop
young athletes in all of its associated federations.
In 2012, a comprehensive programme is being launched by the ITTF. At the closing ceremony Andersson said, “I congratulate our Brazilian friends for jumping on the opportunity and I am looking forward to see the young Brazilian candidates at camp at the Werner
Schlager Academy in June.”
The ITTF Hopes Programme will give enormous opportunities to the young aspiring players and a goal that was pretty much achieved at the Sao Paulo Hopes Training Camp.
