International coaching not on Fleming’s agenda – Cricket News Update
Former New Zealand skipper and currently the coach of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Paul-Fleming-c91190 has reiterated that he has no plans of coaching at the international level.
The veteran Kiwi batsman, who played for the Chennai based franchise in the 2008 Indian Premier League, took over as CSK’s coach in 2009 and has since guided the side to three major titles – two IPL trophies (2010 and 2011) and a Champions League T20 triumph (2010).
Despite his success with the IPL side, Fleming has no desire to take the role at international level, frequent travelling being the biggest reason behind that. While speaking to ESPNcricinfo, the 39-year-old left-handed batsman, who retired from international cricket in March 2008, said that he wanted to live a normal life and is satisfied with coaching for a few weeks in a year.
"I get my cricket fix doing this," Fleming told ESPNcricinfo. "And then I am just enjoying living a normal life. With all the travelling I did as a player, it's nice to just have a normal life. It's great to be able to do this for a few weeks a year but that is it."
Fleming, who is http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s second-most capped Test player with 111 appearances, is known for his astute tactical abilities. He is regarded as one of the most shrewd men in the job, and his decision not to extend the mentoring role to the international level will be a huge loss to the coaching fraternity.
Though Fleming keeps his side gelled like any other coach in the world, his coaching philosophy lies in relying on individual strengths rather than developing a team culture. He throws weight behind every single player of his team, and this is one realistic reason that he has been able to bring the best out of South African all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JA-Morkel-c1613, who is a star performer of CSK but has failed to emulate those performances for his national team.
"He is a bit more secure with us and a bit more in spotlight which may make him more comfortable with CSK in his role," Fleming, who is currently in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 coaching CSK in the ongoing Champions League T20, said of Morkel. "[In] a talented side like South Africa, they try different techniques and tactics...he may be searching a bit for his role within the side," he added further.
