International flight under $500 USD?

Question

My teacher gave us a school assignment and after searching the web I am coming up with no answers. I have to plan a mock vacation for myself for 10 days with $500 for the airfare and $500 spending money (lodging etc.) I keep finding really cheap places to stay but no cheap flights. It has to be an international trip. I would be flying out of Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL areas. Any help?

Try going to sidestep.com  You'll find the price that you need there because what the site does is search every airline over the web to find you the best deals.

Farecompare has a price tool that does exactly what you're asking for.  Enter your departure city, and it shows you maps of different world regions with the cheapest flights currently offered: http://www.farecompare.com/maps/compareD...

Here, I've set it to ATL departures for you:  http://www.farecompare.com/maps/compareD...  Berlin $462, Cancun $320, Montego Bay $340, Montreal $260, and Managua $360 for example.

You could go to mexico, Canada, one of the Caribbean Islands.  For you to fly to someplace on the Mayan Riviera might be under $500.  It isn't too far.  How about Dominican Republic?  That's supposed to be quite inexpensive all around.

Where have you been searching?  Europe?  Not gonna find it.  Not in the real world, but someplace closer, you have a shot.
