International phone coverage suggestions?

im from aus, going to europe in 15 weeks (so excited!) and im about to research what kind of phone plan is the best. i hear that you have to pay for incoming and outgoing calls and the coverage is roming or something??

can someone plz explain this to me... links are great. any recommendations?

p.s- im with '3' atm but willing to change companies for a better deal :)

You will have to pay for incoming & outgoing calls based on your plan.
