Question:

International travel rookie?

I am traveling to Ireland this October to see my boyfriend, I've never flown farther than Atlanta, GA on my own...and I live in FL. I'm nervous about figuring out what to do for international flight. I'm flying with US Airways, from Orlando to Philadelphia with a 5 hour layover there. From Philly I am flying to Dublin. When do you go through customs? Would it be in Philly before I arrive IN dublin or would it be in Dublin? Has anyone been to the Dublin airport, is it easy to get around in? Any other information would be very helpful.

  1. You'll be fine.  You will do customs in Ireland.  You will fill in a paper before you get there on the airplane (they give it to you) and you walk through customs , give them the paper and they stamp you passport.  My Husband is from Northern Ireland and I am from California, I use to go back and forth twice a year till we got married.   I have been through Dublin airport lots of times. It is easy to get around and there is always tons of airport staff around, so just ask if you need to know where to go or if you have any questions, that's what I do.

Edit.  oops I just talked to my hubby and he says you can sometimes do customs first when flying into the Republic, I am use to flying into Northern Ireland. When I went thru Dublin before we were just going to Dublin.  But really don't worry the staff will tell you exactly what to do , there is nothing to be nervous about.
