Question:

Internet Explorer isnt working on my new laptop... ?

I have a compaq computer, and everytime i close a internet explorer window it says something like, "internet explorer is not responding." [even though it was] and that i have ti restart internet explorer.. what should i do, should i get a new web browser? is there a way i can fix it ?

  1. Your problem may be caused by a toolbar installed in the browser or by a faulty active X add-on.

    You can try to reset the browser. To do this go to Tools -> Internet options...

    In the options window click on the advanced tab.. at the bottom you will see a reset button. The browser will be reset to the configuration that it had at first install. It will disable any active X add-ons that you may have added but you can always enable them one at a time to determine if that one of them was the cause.

    Do you by chance use Google Desktop? I had the same problem that you have now about a year ago and i was able to determine that it was a setting in Google Desktop that was the culprit...if you have Google Desktop installed you should determine if you have the latest version and update it if necessary.  

    If your problem continues after the reset, you should install an alternative browser such as Firefox or Opera. Both of these are far better, faster and safer than IE7.

    You can use any number of browsers at the same time so you don't need to worry about uninstalling IE7 ( you can't uninstall IE7 by the way because it's part of windows).
