Internet Explorer windows popping up?

Is this a virus? I was on Myspace, and I went to one of my friend's profile, and all of a sudden like 20 Internet Explorer pages popped up, and when I clicked out of them, more just came up again. I have AOL, and I've been running McAfee and it said everything on my computer is protected.

This happened on my old computer a few years ago, and I think it was a virus.

I had to turn my computer off, by the button, I couldn't even go to start or click anything else. I had to turn the computer off and restart it to get it to stop.

  1. could be a trojan.

  2. I suggest you try to download and install a program called ThreatFire as it adds to McAfee's current protection and should kill whatever McAfee doesn't. I also suggest though that you get some anti-spyware protection such as Spyware Doctor and use Firefox instead of IE as Firefox is much more secure than IE.

*Since McAfee is more for anti-virus it might not detect some stuff classified as spyware or malware.

  3. maybe they're just pop ups alot of'em at once or maybe b ur comp is infected

  4. I have had McAfee not detecting anything when in fact the computer is infected.

    Download SuperAntiSpyware

    - Update and Scan

  5. try going to the top right of you screen where it says tools and choose manage addons and enable and disable addons and the addons with no publisher disable.hopefully it will work
