Internet Problems!?

I use a WebStar modem, and I wanted to get onto the internet using my laptop so I put the Ethernet cable into my laptop and it said "No or Limited Connectivity" so I hit Disable and thought I could just hit Enable and maybe it would work, but it didn't, and now when I plug my Ethernet cable into the laptop port, it doesn't even light up anymore, just wanna get on the internet! Please help.

do you have the driver for the webstar modem on your laptop? maybe you should check to see if there is a setup for the modem and check to see if it needs a specific driver to run - i had this problem before with my ambit modem - i had to run setup from the modem before i could get anything to work - also, try to make a new ethernet connection
