Internet and democracy?

what effect can the internet have on the quality of democracy?

It allows misinformation and disinformation to spread too easily as fact.

At the present it doesn't seem to harm or help-you just have to know where to go for the correct information which,admittedly can be difficult. I'm more disturbed that the news services in our country are increasingly falling under one umbrella.

The Internet is the greatest tool for activism that this world has ever seen!

There are things,  like Nader gives a speech and the only Media coverage is in the Britt Press or other foreign countries, but NOT American press covers it.

So WE THE PEOPLE have to supplement the news we get by checking the Internet for stuff that the 4th estate is failing to report.
