Internet car owners club forums?

Question

has anyone else had bad experiences of internet owners club forums.

so far i joined 2 and both were full of people who behaved like pre-school bullies. and passing it off as banter.

they were vauxhall owners club and vauxhall mk3 owners club.

maybe it was just those two?

I belong to The Smart Club and have found only helpful friendly people and sound advice with a wealth of knowledge available.

I'm also a member of some internet owners club forums, mostly they are what you call a 'push' forum where every post is emailed to you, but others are a 'pull' forum that you need to go to the site and physically look up any new posts, then you can read the ones that interest you.

I have experienced similar to what you have in the behavior by some members of the 'push' forums... I don't think the users are trying to bully or belittle you, it's just....

1/ They can't put their thoughts into words effectively.

2/ They have their opinion, and an 'If you don't agree you're wrong' attitude.

3/ A difference in opinion on the meaning of a word... one that comes to mind here is the word 'unmolested' which was describing a car that was for sale on 'eBay', My interpretation of unmolested was totally different from the person who posted the message. To me 'unmolested' means as it was when it left the factory, no additions, no changes, no damage. The car had additions, some suspect repairs, and damage. Although the additions could easily be removed, and the damage repaired, it was in my opinion far from 'unmolested'.

Try not to take anything on a forum personally, if you don't like what they say, don't read their posts. Or do what I do and laugh and their inadequacies! lol

In my experiences internet forums are often full of people who behave like bullies.  However, there is usually a wealth of information available on them.  Most of the information I have ever needed could be found by simply searching the sites.  If I do need to ask a question I just ignore the stupid responses from immature people.  Unfortunately, the anonymous nature of the internet brings out these internet bullies who feel this need to act superior but can only do it when no one knows who they are.  These people are stupid by choice or genetics so don't let it bother you.  I have also found many intelligent and helpful people on the forums.
