Internet connectivity - mouse related?

I recently bought a mouse for my XP stand-alone computer. Upon receipt, I noticed it was windows 95/98/NT compatible with no mention of XP. I plugged it in though and it seems to work fine. Over the last few days, my cable modem has been providing intermittent internet access and losing connectivity on and off. The cable company is coming to look at it this weekend. I'm wondering if using the mouse I referred to above could play any role in my internet problem or is it just coincidental? Thanks. Jeff
