  1. It could be a setting at the ISP you are using. They often do sneaky, dirty little things like this, to discourage people from taking up too much bandwidth (which costs them money).

  2. It is likely that it is your I.S.P's fault, try contacting them first. Secondly, it could be the wireless adapter, try going on-line without it. And finally, you might have a virus or spy-ware continuously so a spy-ware scan would be recommended.

Also try using software which need internet one at a time and see if any of them are causing the trouble.

  3. I've worked as a network technician for over 5 years and I've found that the problem can come from one or more of the following issues:

    1. Faulty wireless access point.(Most likely a router for a home network)

Troubleshooting: Connect directly to a router or modem with a lan cable

Going to [ Start -> Run -> cmd -> ping www.yahoo.com -t ] will let you see when internet drops or slows down based on time outs and delay in ms.

If you have consistent connection, the solution would be to work via the cable or to buy a new router that supports wireless.

    2. Faulty wireless card on your desktop/laptop

    Troubleshooting: Same as above.

I list this one second because if this is the cause, it is more expensive to repair a laptop wireless card then to purchase a router that supports wireless.

    3. Internet provider issues

Troubleshooting: Connect directly into the modem via cable. This reduces the possible points of failure by limiting the amount of equipment the signal must travel through. If connection is still shaky, you will have to call your provider and work the issue out with them. If they remain unreasonable, threaten to change to a different company. As long as your request is not outrageous, that simple statement to a manager will make them much more helpful (LAST RESORT ONLY)
