Internet disconnects.. .& it's annoying!!

I already posted a question for this same reason & got no responses so hopefully this time around someone can possibly help. I have a laptop that connects to the internet wireless. I get kicked off from time to time therefore i unplug ethernet cord & the modem cord wait a few seconds plug them back in & instantly i have internet again. I can handle that.. .what i can't handle is everytime I go to download a song or game etc. when it is half way through the download my internet disconnects & i have to connect back to the internet & start the download all over again. If i cancel the download my internet runs smoothly. It's rather annoying & I have no clue on how to fix this.. does anyone have any suggestions? Please If you have any suggestions at all post them. Thanks so much!!

There is alot of possible things if its vista it might be your AIM version. try updating it if u have AOL instant messenger. Or Do u have a telephone that is wireless? Sometimes they have the same frequency as the router. If you do try getting a phone with a different GHz. Do u have vista? if u have dsl u might need a dsl filter that goes into the phone jack. But, try calling your internet service company. You might have to wait a long time but it doesn't hurt trying. It might even be the program you are using downloading.
