We have a netgear router and a motorolla surfboard modem. I can use the net wirelessly on my laptop from my room. Everything has been working fine and no settings have been changed but the internet dropped out on the main computer downstairs. For some reason my laptop could still access the net though. We played around with it unplugged everything n plugged it back in which has always fixed it in the past but its not fixing it anymore and now i cant get the net on my laptop either. It says we have limited or no connectivity n something bout 100mps or something and when u try to open a website it says down the bottom dsnl error or something have no idea of any computer jargon etc um i tried the whole repair thing to try and reconfigure the IP address but that does nothing so i have no clue how to get it work again. Any ideas??? I know nothing bout internet connections etc i need easy steps lol

  1. First you should format entire hard disk.then you re-install the os on both system.then you make fresh instalition on it.secondly check your cable joint if present.thirdly take away your cable from electrical cable.forthly when you start your computer leave it about 10 min to start.

  2. can you connect by pluging in a CAT5 cable from you computer to netgear?

You may need to look at the log in the netgear box to find out the real prob.

  3. try this

Go to control panel / networks right click to open and see if they are connected if not right click them and click repair

Also check that your network name has not changed

    Last but not least

Setup a new network with a new network name and see if that works
