Internet help? Please answer..?

hey... the computer I have, we've had for about a year now. Bought it brand new and all.. its been working fine till now, but NOT no more... I really need someones help. Im 15 and the very most computer litterate person in the house, no doubt!

Its my internet btw.. not computer.

Ok... heres what it says,

"Your (network adaptor) Local Area Connection does not have a vaild IP configuration".

Then theres an option to "automatically reset IP configuration".

I've went through it all... and searched what I can do, but nothing is helping. Just says "windows tried repairing, but there seems to still be a problem" Also... when I go to the start button and to "network" it says im on network 5, and at one point it said im on a public network. I really have no idea.. I would like to somehow COMPLETELY reset the internet or network, what ever it is.. to how it was when we first got this. I dont know... do I have to call amtelecom or, is there any way I can do in myselfe with onscreen help?

  1. Try resetting the Modem/Router - the modem or router is what issues the IP address and sometimes they just hang and refuse to do that. Unplug the modem or router and let it sit for 1 full minute. Reconnect power and wait for all the lights to settle down. Then try a repair if needed..  Do check the cable to be sure both ends are connected to your computer from the modem/router.

    Let me know if that doesn't get it!
