I'm in need of some help, with my modem connection. If I have 2 computers each with its own modem connected, can I still use the internet (on any computer) with know problems (like using the telephone).

  1. Practically, no.

With POTS, DSL, and cable, it's theoretically possible (it's essentially spoofing or a man in the middle attack), but it's hard to do.

What you want is something like a "dialup router," or use Windows's built-in internet connection sharing with a wired or wireless home network.

  2. Cable modems yes. If each computer has a cable modem then it will work. (I've done this before)

DSL, I don't think so. Buying a router that supports DSL is your best bet to connect 2 or more computers on the same DSL connection.
