Question:

Internet phone?

We currently have the typical phone systems, where someone calls in, and can transfer to this extension and that extension, and so forth. Leave messages here and there. Someone from a certain extension pages someone else on another phone extension. To call out, we'd press 9, and dial the phone number.

However, the monthly phone bill is very high for a business customer. I'm talking about several thousand dollars per month.

Will the "Internet phones" be a better solution?

How do these phones work? So if I were to call someone oversea or out of state, I will have no phone bill at the end of the month? And what happens when someone calls me?

How reliable are these phones? So if the T1 line is up 24/7, then, would these phones be as reliable as the T1 line?

So when people talk about "Internet phones", are they referring to VoIP phones?

If you know about these phones, please advise. Thanks.

  1. I have an Internet phone for the past 5 years, and love it!  I will never go back!

I use wifi-max/fixed.....so I never have to worry about the power going out....unless an Airplane hits the micro-wave tower!!

I use several VoiP services and providers!

my first VoIP was Packet8 five yours ago....I had no clue what VoIP was.....go to some of the best websites and do some research....like DSLReport.com.....then you can make a wise decision!!

I also use the MagicJack for the past year....as a 2nd line for only 20 bucks per year.....after you buy that MJ gadget for 40 dollars.

I also use skype with is a SIP service........its free if you call PC to PC....!

try something  thats free first and see if you like it!  like skype or ooVoo.com from google....
