Is there a internet phone that I can get in which I do not have to pay for another service besides the internet service. I'm thinking about getting a Lan line phone but can't see paying 30 bucks a month where I already have a cell phone.

  1. In order to have internet service (Broadband or DSL) you need a land line.  You can get a cheap land line phone and just use the internet service on it.  I know a company that has very good service and really good prices.  I don't know what state, your address or your area code and first three digits of your telephone so I can't get it price on it.

If you go to this web site www.shaunvague.acnrep.com  They offer services like land lines, Internet, VOIP, digital, video and all the major cellular phone companies have partnered up with them you can find yourself a good deal.  Give them a call give them the information and they will find the best deal for you.  Their phone number and email address is on the first page to the right.

I've had wonderful experiences with this company.  I continue to use their services, I've saved money as well as a percentage of everyone's bills goes to help fund programs for handicap children and adults, mentally challenged, impaired, elderly and youths.  That's what I like best!

    Good luck!

  3. If you want to have a telephone number associated with your Internet phone account, then it will inevitably cost you something.  There are many services offering Internet phone numbers, but they all cost.

The one exception, that many people here on Answers is promoting, is "Grand Central".

Currently GC is issuing phone numbers in select USA area codes for free.  It is on invitation and limited assignments only.  They do offer "limited" free forwarding of incoming phone calls and free voicemail.

But, GC is in Beta test mode and availability is limited.

I have an account for testing.  I don't use it much because I live in Canada and my GC phone number is in Charlotte, NC.

I expect, once GC goes public (no longer in beta), then it will no longer be free.  Even if phone numbers are free, forwarding and calling will inevitably cost money....

That is what Skype did.  Initially free, now it ain't.... that's how marketing works...

If your friends and family around the country have PC's and Internet, you can always call PC-PC for FREE using any of a dozen different VoIP accounts.  They all offer this... it's called ... "In-Network Calling".

Examples are:  Google Talk, Skype, Yahoo Messenger, MediaRing Talk, VBuzzer, etc.

If you don't want to wait for your GC phone number, or you want more calling minutes than they offer for free, then you may want to try CallCentric on your PC with their free Softphone.

You get area code phone number (DID) anywhere in USA/Canada for $1.95/month. + 1.9 cent/min for outgoing calls to PSTN phones and cells and 1.5 cent/min to receive calls on your CallCentric phone number on your PC.  You can have incoming phone calls forwarded to your cell, or any other number you like.  Includes voice mail, 911 and all the bells and whistles... no extra charges.

Only pay-as-you-go, no contracts, no obligations, no gimmicks, no fine print.

I use CallCentric as my secondary home phone number (DID).

(InPhonex is my primary Internet phone: http://www.inphonex.com )

Free In-Network calling to anyone else who also has CallCentric account.

    Free Soft-phone:

I do not have telephone company landline.  Thus, I have high-speed Lite Internet service with my cable company for only $22/month.  I do all my phone calling over Internet phones.

  4. Take notice of the answer by TiffanyB, I happen to know this lady and I can heartily recommend the company she uses as I use it myself.
