Internet problems, please help!?

Every time I close a window on my internet, (I have Internet Explorer 7 by the way) I get a pop-up that says "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close"

Then every window that was open shuts down! This has been happening for a while, so I tried to update my internet to IE8, but that didn't work either. All of my windows close every time I try! I even tried to download Firefox, and the same thing happened.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  2. Your computer probably has a virus or a spyware. Get a strong anti-virus like kaspersky, a firewall like comodo, and 2 anti-spyware (there are a bunch to choose from).

Scan your whole computer using these programs and if a virus or spyware is found, don't delete it yet. Right click on My Computer > Properties > System Restore > check box Turn off system restore > click Yes.

Then restart your computer and go to safe mode by continuously pressing F8 during restart. Scan your computer again and delete the virus/spyware. Then restart computer normally and turn on the System Restore.

  3. Didn't know IE8 was out. Reset your modem and router. Don't use the little reset bottons on back. Disconnect power from both and then take the battery out of the modem. Wait a few minutes and reconnect power to both, then put battery back in modem. Wait a couple of minutes. Control Panel>dbl click Network Connections>right click on each LAN connection in turn and click repair>let it finish and do any other LAN connections the same way. Modems and routers are funny that way. They need resetting periodically. You also need to delete cookies and especially temp internet files. on the General tab of Internet options click the only button that says Delete and you will be given 4 choices. Do Delete cookies and Delete files. Too many files can cause problems with IE.
