  1. just get avira antvir, its free and you will be protected

  2. "Yes" you do because even if you are not on the internet you need to be protected. You don't have to buy  a antivirus program or a spyware program because there are some good free one out there and it will give you the protection that you need ok. (http://free.grisoft.com) this is avg free antivirus program that is good . (http://www.superantispyware.com)  this is a very good spyware program and it protects the computer from (spyware, malware, adware, trojan horses, and some computer worms)  So get these 2 programs and keep your windows updated and you will be ok even when you decited to get the internet. Good Luck

  3. Yes - that would be a good idea since a virus can be contracted through an external disc such as a CD or DVD. If you want a free anti-virus I recommend in order of popularity, but please choose the right one for you (install only one):

    1. AVG Free

    a. A simple interface (easier to use than Avast! and Avira)

    b. Can detect about 82.82% of viruses

    Cons: low virus detection

    2. Avast!

    a. Real-time protection

    b. It has an option to delete a virus once found

    c. Can detect about 87.46% of viruses.

Cons: Too many icons and confusing user interface

    3. Avira AntiVir

    a. It can detect malware better than Avast and AVG

    b. It's cute umbrella icon

    c. Can detect about 94.26% of viruses

    Cons: A very sluggish update

  4. If you do not have internet access then no security against malware is required.

  5. You should have a good virus scanner installed, even if you  do not use the internet, i see you have allready good advice on the free one,s.  Install one soon as posssible.

  6. Yes, you need security.

  7. NO, but if u share data with other computers, ie cd's, thumb drives, floppies, etc. make sure those computers have a virus scan and that the data u share is safe before u put it on your computer.

To put protection on your computer is basically meaningless, since you have no way to upgrade it to the lastest data files.  so even if u baught say mcafee on a cd, at the store, its old, old meaning it needs to update every 6 hours for new virus protection, and u have no way to upgrade it so it will be useless to u anyway.

PS. im sorry Jesse T, i gave u a down thumb by mistake, i wanted to give u thumbs up, u were only one to answer correctly.

  8. If your not going to use it on the Internet there's no point. If you put an AV as someone suggested all your going to get is a nagging screen all the time saying it can't update it's self.

The chances of you pick up anything from any other source like CD's etc are about 10 billion to one. Golden rule don't stick anything on that you think is dodgy.

If you get the red shield in the task bar going on about no virus protection just set it to "you will monitor it yourself" as opposed to the system. That'll get rid of that nag!

  9. No, none at all
