  1. the safest one is by zone alarm

    .

  2. KIS!

  3. A very good, free anti-virus available to download is AVG 8 Anti-virus:

    http://www.free.grisoft.com

And for any spyware problems, get SpyBot - Search and Destroy:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirro...

Both are free, as powerful as paid programs, like Norton and McAfee, and don't use up as many resources.

Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.

    Hope that helps.

  4. 1.kaspersky

    link

    http://www.kaspersky.com/

    2.mcafee

    link

    http://www.mcafee.com/us/

In real terms, none of the antivirus programmes you mentioned is bad. Rate of detection & speed at which , these scan the system , without affecting functioning of other programmes, is what matters for most of the users.

But  i feel, what ultimately   matters most ,is amount of protection, your system recieves.while on the net or off the net.

No single programme has cent percent detection capability.

But since paid versions have additional features(internet security etc.) ,& whatever feedback all of us recieve from other friends, kaspersky, has been preffered.(under paid version catagory)

    Next come,mcafee,AVG,Avast etc.

    AVG is also preffered programme,

    http://www.grisoft.com/

Infact, most of the users (me included), use AVG 8, FREE VERSION, & are satisfied. But free version does not have

    internet security(Paid version has).

So better take your own decision, keeping in view all, what has been said.

  5. Any and all internet security suites will cause some system slowdown. The difference is how much. Of the ones you listed I would choose Kaspersky. You should also consider ESET's internet security suite. It is very good and causes less system drag.

    Spybot S&D:

To scan and remove other malware:

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Simply download, install, update and perform Quick Scan.

Also use Spyware Doctor Free Basic Edition, which offers realtime protection:

    http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_inst...

Its free with Google pack, untick all boxes except Spyware Doctor. Download install, update and run.

Also install SnoopFree Privacy Shield which  is not another scanner product.  It's a powerful shield that guards your keyboard, screen and open windows from all  spy software.  The way it works makes it  virtually impossible for any spy program to work on your computer:

Threatfire which runs alongside your antivirus enhancing your protection:

Scroll down and click on Get Free

Also add KeyScrambler which encrypts everything that you type in including credit card numbers etc.

Works on most browsers, email clients and IM programs, and it's free.

100% protection? Use Sandboxie, no malware unless the user specifically 'recovers' it to their hard drive:

  7. kasperdsky or nod32

u can go to thier sites and try try  30 day free trial ...just to see if u like and how your comp . works with it............

  8. norten is bad - this installs firewalls and other programs into your system that you really don't need. And if you end up with problems it is a complete pain to remove. Stay away from norten.

CA or mcafee are good products to use. I use mcafee 8.5 with a spyware addon for extra protection. Never had virus problems and it downloads the updates from their website automatically. Very good program

pc-cillin have heard about but not used. Supposidly its a good program....

AVG is another good brand that I find people are using for virus checks and its a free one that can be downloaded from their website.

so in conclusion stick with mcafee/AVG or CA...

  9. I use webroot's antivirus with antispyware (formerly spysweeper with antivirus).  Very good at blocking infections, downloaders, and browser hijackers.  If you want a different firewall than windows firewall, zonealarm has a very good free one.

I find Kaspersky a little difficult to configure, and it needs to be configured.  As delivered doesn't turn on all the options you need.

Norton is ok, but has trouble sometimes verifying your subscription, which is a pain.  Uses less resources than it used to.

McAfee, to me, is just difficult.  If you have any problems with it, it's very difficult to configure, manually update, etc.

Forget CA.  Total resource hog.  And only so-so antispyware protection.

Pc-cillin is ok, but if you need to reinstall you have to remember the userid and password you registered it with.  It's not enough to have the keycode.  And it's antispyware is just ok.

Again this is my opinion, but the free products are not at the same level.  Lots of people like avg and spybot, but I think they have serious deficiencies for real protection.  I ususally skip answering any security questions when people want "really good and free" because I don't think you can have both.  However, it's up to you.
