Internet usage monitoring...?

If I am using a wireless internet connection on my laptop and my consumption (no. of data downloaded) is being montitored... do they also have access to my internet surfing? Can they see what I have been viewing or downloading, even if I have deleted my history. internet files and cookies?

  1. No they can't. They'd need to use signals intelligence and decrypt the packets being sent and received by your computer to their DNS servers.


  2. no, they can't precisely see your activity but they can keep tab on websites you visit. For instance you type www.hotmail.com -press enter - this appears on their monitors along with source ip address.

    Consider your ip address as 12.23.34.45 then it appears like this

    12.23.34.45 ,http://www.hotmail.com ,protocol, port etcetra although they need to have networking tools and stuff on the server side.
