Internet won't connect?

Question

i just installed my new visiontek 2600 HD pro and know for some reason my internet wont connect i'm connected though a ehernet cord thats connected though my wireless router it worked before i installed it and i didn't break anything while installing the card i tried setting up a connection but it just says disconnected even though the cord is plugged into the back of my computer and the light is on saying its connected in the back

try repairing your connection if you are using xp click start > run type cmd, in prompt screen type ipconfig /renew. or right click on your internet icon in task bar looks like two computers together. if you are using vista try the same thing  but not sure as i don't use it.
