Internet wont work? plzz help?

I am Going thrue and deleting everything from an old computer.. it no runs fast and is virus free but i think i deleted a vital network program because i cant connect to the internet. or even find a coneections. im useing a ethernet to conect to a router?

also, any tips on removing everything from the drive without deleting the OS

upgrading your os instead of re-installing will definitely solve your problem coz if you upgrade your os, your installed files or files in disk-formats will not be deleted from any of the drive, but if you dont upgrade your os, those network file can never be put in your computer

if you re-install it it will ask for a clean installation which will delete your files, further more your system will be in good speed if you upgrade your system, so all you need is a os cd or dvd
