  1. lots of innocent kids getting knifed and shot at in the hood recently in the news.

  2. Maybe he's afraid of her dying in car accident with somebody he doesn't trust to drive her around. Someone with an unreliable vehicle.

  3. It would help if I knew more about your uncle and his wife, their lifestyle and their religious beliefs.

A car usually represents your life journey or your lifestyle.  So, for he and his wife to be buying a car together represents their relationship.  If there are details concerning their conversation and decisions, this would reveal more about their relationship.

The fact that the cars were old fashioned leads me to believe that your aunt and uncle are being influenced to adopt a very rigid style of marriage where the male is super dominant.  Some people interpret the Bible to mean the husband is almost a god in his own home and family and that his wife should just obey him without question, no matter what.   The way these people interpret and carry out what the Bible says is very demeaning to women and hurts the children as well.  If they continue along these lines, it could very well "kill" their marriage and harm their daughter spiritually and emotionally even if she is not physically harmed.

Tell your uncle to pray for God alone to guide him and not to take advice from immature men who are stuck on themselves or hung up on their authority.  An older, more experience man who has a very happy wife will be a better adviser for him.

True men of wisdom to not feel the need to PROVE their manhood by continually saying, "I'm the head of this house!  I'm the boss!"  These men spend WAY too much time focusing on what they think their wives are supposed to do and not enough time praying about what THEIR job is... to love, to protect, and even be willing to die for her if necessary!

I pray the best for your uncle and his family.
