Question:

Interracial Friendship Bothers Parent?

I'm Jamaican and I am friends with a European-background guy. We hug each other occasionally, and whenever we hug in front of his parents, they look at me angrily and whisk him away, saying " he has to go." I find this annoying, especially when I want to talk to him about something and I hug him to say hi. Now I think I should just say hi instead of the actual hugging. But what really bothers me is the fact that I would like to be more than friends with him, and he seems to return the interest, but his parents are holding him back. What should I do? Stop being his friend? Or stop being so paranoid that the reason is race? A 17 year old should be allowed to date, so I doubt its that.

  1. they r prejudice (they only like their own) it is  a shame for them i think jamaican woman r beautiful...he is a minor he will have to wait till he is an adult...tell you what i 'll wait for you here in P.R.    lol

  2. If he doesn't have a problem with race, then don't let it worry you. He'll be 18 soon, and his parents won't be able to stop it. I know you probably want their approval, they are a big part of his life, but I wouldn't back off just because they're acting weird. Have you ever asked him about this?

  3. at 17 years old it's kind of hard not to follow what mom and dad said ...........  I think his parent should respect his choice.Hey if you really into him , just wait  until he turns 18 well he can't confront his parent as an adult . At the same time , you need to be sure what he wants to do .......... just stick with it

  4. Meet in a different place other than his house, like the park, or the movie theater.

  5. you should just confront him and ask him what his parents problem is
