Question:

Interrailling - Can you buy train tickets for in Europe at train stations here in the UK?

I'm going interrailing with a few friends next month, and we want to book the first overnight train (in Spain) now, so it doesn't get booked up before we leave.

Is it possible to book these tickets /seat reservations at a main train station, or does it have to be done in the country we're travelling in.

Thanks

(Also any other useful hints about interrailling would be much appreciated)

  1. Yes you can, just go to a tube station and ask the person, where you normally would pay to get a oster charged or a ticket, and I personally think you should go there and find out for yourself incase we are wrong.

  2. Back in the great days of British Rail you used to be able to make continental reservations from main railway stations, but in these wonderful private-enterprise days it's far too expensive for UK train companies to provide a service which will make them little money.

There are a few places where you can get reservations in the UK. The UK office of Deutsche Bahn, the German railways can certainly make reservations on trains to/from Germany and I think other countries too - http://www.bahn.co.uk/db_uk/view/index.s... . Another place with a very good reputation is Festiniog Travel, the travel agency of the Festiniog Railway in north Wales - http://www.festtravel.co.uk/

  3. No you cannot get these tickets at railway stations, and certainly not at tube stations.

Speak to a travel agent or look it up on the internet.
