  1. Yes, Caracas really isn't a very tourist-y place... but if you're already going there. My advice is to be careful and try to hang out with someone from Caracas that can guide you and tell you where not to go, what to do and not to do, etc.

As for places to go, well you have to go to El Avila, which is the mountain that surrounds Caracas (Caracas is a valley) it is truly beautiful, and you can grab the 'Teleferico' which take you to the top, to Avila Magica which is basically a place to eat, and hang out with a pretty view of the city, there's also a skating rink :)

Also, there are a lot of shopping malls you can visit if you're into shopping :) Centro Comercial San Ignacio, Sambil...

You can go to Plaza Altamira, it's a kind of pretty square. Then there's Bellas Artes that's basically the place where the museums are, but this area is a bit dangerous... so be careful!!

Also, there's the UCV, that's the Central University of Caracas... which was named universal patrimony of humanity by Unesco... it has a very interesting arquitecture and some works of arts, if you can  watch a play or concert in the Aula Magna there, it's really pretty...

Basically that's all I have in mind... do try to be careful there. And use common sense ;)

  2. Caracas is not really touristy and a bit dangerous. But there are many fun day trips from the city, like Los Roques (probably one of the best beaches in the world), Colonia Tovar (German Town) and Choroní, great place but a little too far for a day trip.

  3. i just voted for ^ because i was going to name los roques and colonia tovar (both really good places to go). i would say if you could go to margarita island go there because its more fun and a bit safer then the city.

  4. I would go to the Venezuelan Tourist Office, where they can guide you to see some of the important places and people, who are transforming Venezuela into a new society under the Bolivarian Revolution. ie clinics, housing, farms, schools etc, in addition to the usual tourist sites.Caracas is not exactly a touristy city, but it has important Museums and statues of the Nation's history Have a great trip, you will love it

  5. I would go down to the palace and watch Chavez manipulate his marionettes. It might also be fun to see him in full rant about the evils of Democracy and how he is the only hope and light for South America. It is much like what I imagine a talking monkey would look like.. Or maybe an ape.. I dunno. Or skip Caracas all together and go to Las Roques and dive or Isla Margarita.

  6. Theres so many places to visit in Venezuela Caracas isn't one of them

  7. Caracas is not a tourist type city, unlike Buenas Aires for example.
