  1. There is no single highway that links the two states.  I believe the route you would take is crossing into Philadelphia on I-276 which turns into the Pennsylvania Turnpike aka I-76 West.  Nearing Pittsburgh, you would change to I-70 West and follow that through the entire state of Ohio and Indiana, passing through the cities of Columbus and Indianapolis.  When you cross the border from Indiana into Illinois,

I-70 takes a southwesterly jog to the city of St. Louis, Missouri.  After crossing the mighty Mississippi River in St. Louis, you'd change over to I-44 West which will take you the rest of the way through Missouri (that's one long stretch of highway).  When you finally cross the state line at Oklahoma, I-44 West becomes the Will Rogers Turnpike which will take you to the city of Tulsa and then on to Oklahoma City.  Once in Oklahoma City, you change over to I-35 South, after which point you will finally arrive in Texas in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area.

I should add that both the PA Turnpike (I-76) and the Will Rogers Turnpike (I-44) in Oklahoma are toll highways, but they are the fastest routes to get where you're going.
