Hi i'm 15 years old about 56 kg and im an amateur boxer. I heard that interval training like sprinting is better for boxing than long runs and i was wondering if every day or every other day i do intervals of 100m sprints with a 30 second rest in between every single 1 for a km is far enough or should i do more?

  1. I would recommend you do Cross training. Your muscles need 24 hours to recover. You don't gain muscle from the activities, you tear your muscles and they get bigger as they are repaired naturally. Obviously a balanced diet with extra Protein is necessary.

Cross training takes this into action by making you work every day but work on different muscles. A basic schedule could look something like this.

    Sunday: Sprints, Abs, Jump rope

Monday: Heavy Bag, Mitt work, Weights

    Tuesday: Sprints, Abs, Jump rope

Wednesday: Heavy Bag, Mitt work, Weights,

    ETC

It's a good idea to raise the bar a bit and add more weight or run further each day. Test your limits, but make sure you can tell the difference between soreness and pain. Hit a different muscle group each day. Do a little research and find out what exercises are right for you.

  2. boxing is like a marathon... if you box enough rounds you will be glad you where running a ton of miles!
