Looking for a job at the elementary level. I want to prepare for any type of question I may get. I'm not good at memorizing the "right" answers, I need to really have the experience. Hoping that if I read enough, I'll remember some "key"points or words to use. It's tough out there! I really need some worth while help! Thanks!!!

  1. These are the questions that are mostly ask:

    1. What should we expect from you as a teacher??

    2. How will you be able to change student's academic life??

    3. If ever, Will you give up teaching for a more high paying job?? Why? Why not??

(hope it could help though it's  a bit shallow)

  2. When you interview for the job , they know that you will be nervous for the interview . We all had to have a first interview and it was grilling then but now 28 years later , I look back and

    laugh at myself.

At the interview they are going to ask what your strong traits are and what your weakest traits are ? Be honest with them and convice them you will be the best teacher in the difference and hiring you is going to be great for you both .

There are really no right or wrong answers , they look for a lack of confidence in yourself and they will ask how you would conduct your class , what kind of discipine would you use in your classroom, how would you handle a struggling student , how would you handle a really smart and creative student , and other such questions about your daily routine .

Be yourself and you will be great , do not try to be one of your old teachers or another teacher friend you know . Go in with an open mind and an open heart , because sometimes after you get the job your heart will be bleeding because of some of the kids you have , and other times it will be so full of joy. Remember too that your telling them how good they are and setting high expectations for them will help them . You may be the only smile that they see all day and the only person that meets them at the door and tells them how glad you are to see them and how good they look . Teaching ( I believe ) is a calling from God so please remember to pray for the job and for the kids

I hope this helps you some and I wish you the best of luck and God bless .

PS Forget all that garbage you learned in college about teaching , it is not going to help you in the profession nor in the interview .

    Now go get em!

  3. be prepared to talk about your strengths and weaknesses, your classroom management plans, how you believe children learn and why, if you are a behaviorist, constructivist, cognitivist, etc and why you believe that theory over the others and what you can bring to the school and classroom that others cannot.  I cant give you any answers cause its all in what you belive :) Good luck
