Question:

Interview questions please??

I have a friend who has been asked to be interviewed about her life as a mother and a wife. She is 31, a working mom to a 3-year old daughter. It's for a radio program and she would be asked with questions in English. Of course, she needs to answer in English.

Problem is, English is not her mother tongue!

I want to help her out. I want her to answer sensibly using the language.

Can you give me some ideas about possible questions and answers to this kind of interview? I basically have an idea, but I don't know where to start.

Thanks very much for the time! God bless y'all! ^^

  1. Given the subject of the interview I suggest that most questions will be about balancing life as a mother and wife. Questions are likely to start with easy to answer questions such as tell the viewers about yourself and family. However they are likely to get into open ended questions which is where the difficulties may begin.

How do you balance the demands of being a wife and husband?

If English is not a mother tongue then maybe the cultural or ethnicity issues will come into play. It would be interesting to understand if the wife in a Bengali family feels a greater obligation to her husband than a western european wife for example.

Questions might focus on difficulties, compromise, blessings and examples of conflict. Find out how long the interview will be for and that will give you a way of understanding how in depth the questions will be.

The final issue is, of course, will questions in a second language confuse her and if so can you give her appropriate responses so she can explain how she that she may not understand or feels unsure how to answer without getting into difficulties and feeling embarrassed.
