Interview tips?

What kind of questions do they generally ask you for part time jobs.

I have an interview for Kohls department store on thursday.

they will ask about your background in sales and ask questions about your past employment.  You will have to show them that they will benefit from hiring you. When you go have your resume with you and also dress like your ready to work. Your first impression is important and you will never have another chance to make a first impression with them again. So be sharp, and do not chew gum and relax. Good luck!

Heather, as an employer for many years that has hired both part-time and full time employees, several concerns are always important to the employer when considering a part-time person.

First, why are you seeking this position?  Think before you answer with a comment like, "I need extra income" or "I really want a full time job, but this is the only thing available".

Second, be prepared to tell your potential employer why hiring you would be the right thing to do.  With the job market the way it is there are many, many people competing for any job opening.  I ran a three day ad in Kalamazoo, MI  (pop: 80,000) for a part-time secretary @ $8.00/hr and had over 120 applicants apply!

Hi Heather,  They may ask questions like,

" how do you handle stress"

" what do you know about cultural diversity"

" How would you solve a diificult problem"

" what would you do if you saw a fellow employee take a dollar from the cash register and put it his/her pocket"

" what do you know about our store"

" if you saw somthing that may be dangerous lying around, what would you do"

Why do you want to work there?  What was your last job and why arent you there anymore?  What are your goals while working there?

Be sure to dress nice and make good eye contact.  Dont use filler words like "um, er, uh" and think about your answers before giving them.  Smiling is good too!
