  1. Some employers just don't do a good job at that kind of stuff! I wasn't asked a single question at one of my interviews and then the next day I had one and I pretty much had 2-3 pages worth of questions!

Turns out, I took the job that didn't ask a single question. I was offered both however.

Don't take it as a bad sign hun. Just hope for the best.

  2. Well Hons, you gotta go with your gut feeling on this one. Did they kinda blow you off ? Did you get the feeling they were rushing thru at the end ? Be honest with yourself and you'll find the answer .

  3. I would send out the thank you letter and move to the next interview you have.  If they answered with 'good', that was a positive sign.  Don't give up hope but don't hold your breath!

    Good luck!

  4. It's certainly a bad sign if they answered their questions. It should have been you that was answering the questions.

  5. Well, the rule of thumb is that if *you* did most of the talking, it was a good interview (within reason ... of course no-one likes people who just waffle on).  If *they* did most of the talking, then it didn't go well.  So if they didn't ask you that many questions then can I assume you did most of the talking and therefore it was a successful interview?

If you had been being interviewed by only one person, then I would say that another thing to factor in is how long the interview lasted.  If you were there for about an hour or more, it's probably okay.  If you were there under an hour then it's likely that they cut it off short because you were unsuitable.  But in a panel interview, this usually doesn't make a difference - they'd need to agree amongst themselves to cut it short and wouldn't want to do it in front of you, so it's likely that they probably did ask every single question that they planned to ask.

I would say though that some interviewers will read straight from their list of questions, but others will not and will ask you additional questions as they think of them, especially in order to further probe a comment that you have made.  If you interviewed with a panel then it's unlikely that out of all of them there wasn't at least one who was of the latter style, so perhaps you didn't mention anything that they wanted to probe.  That could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Basically, people always try to perform a postmortem on their interview performance but the reality is, it comes down to how well you compare against everyone else rather than how you performed.  So, don't overanalyse anything!  If you are unsuccessful though, make sure you seek feedback.

  6. They asked me 6 questions when i went for a paramedic job, which isn't much, but i got the job. It may just be that they are interviewing lot of people, and want to get through them fairly quickly. They are basically assessing your personality, i don't think you need reams of questions to do that, most interviewers make their mind up in the first couple of minutes anyway.

  7. Yes, they've probably already got someone in mind for the job and were just going through the motions. (Did you mean thay were taking it in turn to ASK their questions...if they were answering their own questions then thats defo not a good sign!! lol!!)

  8. Sometimes they can tell right off.  If there were several people being interviewed, they are hiring many people.  They judge mannerisms, professionalism and look at your resume for experience.  Sometimes they just know you can do the job, or know they don't want to work with you.

Short interviews are usually very good, or very bad.

  9. not necessarily...butwe all expect the worst sometimes
