  1. You should have received a verbal acceptance of your residence status during the interview. The officer should have then told you how long it would take for you to receive your green card.

If he told you you had been accepted but still have not received your green card, then you should contact the nearest immigration office, because typically it will take between 2 weeks to a month after your interview to receive it.

On the other hand, if you did not receive a verbal "You are accepted" or something like it, then you should probably call and ask how your case is going.

    From the USCIS website:

" After you become a permanent resident we update our records and mail you a welcome notice. Then we mail your new permanent resident card. If you move before you get your card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 when you move. You should also call customer service if any of the following occur:

    * You received your welcome notice or card, but you believe there is an error.

    * It has been more than 30 days since you became a permanent resident, and you have not received your welcome notice.

    * It has been more than 30 days since you received your welcome notice but you have not received your new card.

    * You have questions about your new status as a permanent resident.  "

    Hope this helps!

  2. Edited:

The real wait begins. I-485's can take several months to a couple of years for approval, and often leaves the petitioner feeling completely hopeless of ever receiving approval. DO NOT GIVE UP! Though it seems like forever, the CIS will eventually get to your petitions!

  3. could it be that maybe we don't want you?
