  1. my hubby and I just interviewed pediatricians last week.  these are the questions we wanted answers too:

    -hours of operation

-how do they handle walk-in and emergency appts

-when is the first appt after discharge from the hospital and what are the frequency of well visits? (this typically follows the vaccination schedule)

-do they have a nurse practioner in-house, if yes, what role do they play during visits?

-length of appts - sick and well

-who returns phone calls and are there charges?

-what is their stance on breastfeeding and vaccinations?

I also asked if they had children, but you may or may not care either way.  You'll find that a lot of the answers are similar from practice to practice, so like us, you'll probably have a gut feeling about a dr. or practice....good luck

  2. 1.How much are your hospital charges and fees for office visits?

2.Does a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) work in your office?

3.Do you charge for phone calls?

4.Do doctors or staff return every call?

5.What is the scheduled length of your appointments?

6.How often do you want to see the baby in the first year? Why?

    7.Do you have a "sick-child" waiting room?

8.If you share a practice, will I always see you?

9.Do you have evening or Saturday hours?

  3. Alot of times you won't even have to ask, they just volunteer information. Because they know what's important for the patient. Otherwise, I'd ask if he/she has kids, what age? about their schedule, are they booked all the time? How long they've been practicing?
