I used to play lots of golf tournaments as a kid and at this one tournament, if u won, u were going to be interviewed and on the news. I won this tournament, and when i did the interview, i was so nervous i had no idea how to answe his questions. i suttered and mumbled stuff that did not make sense. I couldn/t handle the attention i was getting so i quit golf even though i was a pretty good player. Are there ppl who teach u how to give interviws and how to handle yourself under pressure for athletes?

  1. My greatest fear is public speaking. It seriously scares me more than jumping out of a plane. When I was younger, I dreaded winning tournaments because of the attention I'd get.  I hated walking up to get the trophy and the interviews and the photographs.  It is amazing that one could execute a lob shot under pressure but not an interview afterward. That didnt really answer your question, but at least you know you're not alone.  But dont quit the game because of it.  Getting thru the fear makes you stronger. The more times you throw yourself to the wolves, the better.

  2. A great way to overcome this is to project from yourself, instead of drawing the world into yourself.

You can do this by complimenting the course conditions, the worthiness of your opponents' challenge, the fans and people who run the great event you are playing in.

    Project AWAY from yourself.

  3. See a psychologist (sports or otherwise) to learn why you feel this way and to get past it.  If you have the nerve to win a golf tournament the interview should be easy.

  4. Yes even  just a public speaking class will help

But my tip is its ok to be nervous just muster all that nervous energy into a positive thing keep telling yourself you can do it just like the putts you make to win I'm sure you had nervous energy then but you focused it and made the putt its the same thing good luck and start golfing again the talkin part its ez but playin good golf thats another thing

    FORE GOOD LUCK
