Shoaib has not been a part of Pakistan’s playing eleven after his costly spell in a group match of the tournament against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754. The veteran fast bowler announced that the mega event would be his last appearance for Pakistan, as he would retire from
cricket after that. However, there were reports that the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ did not have the spark left in him and he was not giving his 100 per cent in the practice sessions.
Denying these rumours, Alam stated, “Shoaib has been fully involved in match practice, and is available for selection. He's very much part of the squad and there is no question about his motivation or enthusiasm to play in this important game. Akhtar is
ready for the semifinal.”
However, Alam further stated, “I wouldn't say Shoaib is 100 percent match fit. He's been carrying a knee problem and has been in pain during the tournament, but, to his credit, has still managed to play some matches.”
Pakistan possibly have two more matches in the World Cup and it will be a big opportunity for Shoaib to end his career on a high by performing well in them. The veteran fast bowler last met his archrivals in 2003 in a World Cup match. He was expensive in
the game and was not able to trouble the Indian batsmen back then.
However, things have changed now, as the veteran pacer has matured with the passage of time. Back in 2003, the only aim of Shoaib was to bowl fast and terrify the batsmen with sheer pace. He now looks to take wickets, as bowling quick is not a priority for
the 35-year-old anymore.
It will be interesting to see whether Shoaib earns the confidence of his captain and coach for the all-important game against India. Former cricketers including the legendary http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292 have suggested that the veteran bowler should be a part
of the team in the semi-final. According to them, India do not play fast bowling well and the express pacer will prove to be a lethal force against them.
