Intikhab Alam confident of Pakistan’s comeback in the T20 series
Intikhab Alam, the Pakistan cricket team manager accepted that his men are facing difficulty in adjusting to pitch and weather conditions in New Zealand but was positive about his side’s come back in the ensuing two matches of the three-T20
internationals series.
"This team has the ability to bounce back in the series,” said Alam. “Although there is no doubt the players are facing problems adjusting to the different conditions in New Zealand," he added further.
Pakistan had lost the opening T20 against New Zealand match by five wickets on Sunday and after a humiliating five-wicket defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 in a tour game in which the former World T20 champions were bowled out for paltry 91
runs.
Intikhab, the former Test captain of Pakistan, conceded that the conditions in New Zealand are quite different from those in Pakistan and the players touring New Zealand for the first time will take time to adjust themselves to these conditions.
Batting has been Pakistan’s major cause of concern over the past one year and Intikhab, who is celebrated his 69th birthday yesterday, told the media reporters that the national coach Waqar Younis has advised the batsmen to stay
on the crease for longer times by showing patience and was hopeful that the side will level the series today.
"We are confident that the team will come back strongly in the series because despite all the problems Pakistan cricket has faced in recent months the players have been told to just focus on their cricket," he said.
Alam, who played 47 Tests and four One Day Internationals in his 18-year long cricketing career, further added that the team is well aware of the fact that how important it is for them to have a successful tour of New Zealand. The ongoing
tour is their last international outing ahead of next year’s ICC World Cup which gets underway on 19th of February; just two weeks after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 will conclude its ongoing tour of New Zealand.
Intikhab, who was the coach of Pakistan team which drew Test series against Kiwis during their last tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, also urged the senior Pakistan players to guide the novices visiting New Zealand for the first time and help them in
adjusting to the conditions. He further added that there were no disciplinary issues in the team as they have been clearly told by the management that board would not tolerate any kind of indiscipline.
