Intikhab Alam delighted after new coaching appointments – Cricket News Update
Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380 has expressed his contentment after the coaching appointments of Davenell Whatmore and Julien Fountain for the national team, and hopes that this will help the side to come out of their recent slump.
Pakistan cricket is going through a rough patch following the humiliating defeats in the ODIs and T20s against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, which was further followed by an over hauling in the national selection panel. A debate also arose over the captaincy issue but was put
to rest by the new committee, with Misbah set to work under two of the cricket’s best coaches.  
This leads to a new era for the national side where Alam is hopeful that the team will make significant progress in the near future - showing full confidence in the new appointments.
"I think the missing 'more' in Pakistan cricket will be achieved through Whatmore. With his perfect record in the past I hope he will enhance the team's performance, though it will take some time,” said Alam.
The 70-year-old legend further commented that the team needs to have a competent coach, which would help bring stability. However, he also added that it will be up to the players to fully cooperate with the new coach in order to attain the desired results.
 
The ex-coach also praised the hiring of a new fielding coach, Julien Fountain, and regarded it as a significant advancement for the team, considering their struggles on the field in their recently concluded tour of the UAE.
 "Fountain comes with rich experience and has served England, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 so I hope with him around, much-needed improvement in fielding will also come about," said the coach of Pakistan's World Cup-winning team in 1992.
The 37-year-old Englishman has previously worked with the Pakistan A team, as an assistant and specialist fielding mentor. He was also hired by the ex-Pakistani coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-Andrew-Woolmer-c85587 in 2006 to work on the team's fielding during the tour of England.
“I have taken this post as a challenge and will try my best to lift Pakistan’s fielding,” said Fountain on his arrival.
The Men in Green will start working under the new mentors when they take on the host Bangladesh in the opening match of the Asia Cup on March 11.
