Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director International cricket Intikhab Alam has urged the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 government to look into the matter of the demolition of the security wall of Gaddafi Stadium and calls for its re-construction in order to give confidence to
foreign teams to tour Pakistan in future.
“It is the security which is of paramount importance and the international teams are reluctant to come over to Pakistan under such an insecure condition where headquarter of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket is not secure,” Alam told reporters on Wednesday.
Earlier the incident took an ugly turn when Town Municipal Administration (TMA) officials, on the orders of Punjab government, razed the security wall built in front of the PCB office at Gaddafi Stadium - calling it illegal. The PCB guards tried to prevent
the demolition by confronting the TMA workers and a scuffle ensued.
Criminal cases were also registered against the PCB guards by the Punjab government. It was followed by an angry response from PCB chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 against the provincial government, going as far as holding them responsible for the cancellation of the
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 team’s tour to Pakistan.
Speaking to a TV channel the PCB chief said, "The security wall was for the protection of the stadium and by demolishing it they achieved nothing but portray a poor image of Pakistan abroad."
Intikhab Alam shared the opinion of his chairman and told the reporters that the construction of the wall was as per the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 security protocol. He further added that on his recent visits to other venues around the world, he was asked about the motive behind
such actions when Pakistan is trying hard to bring international cricket in the country. “The demolished wall of the PCB is transmitting a negative impression of the country and it should be solved within the security parameters,” he added.
A positive development took place when Lahore High Court (LHC), after hearing a contempt petition filed against the razing of the wall, allowed PCB to reconstruct it and further ordered the police officials to withdraw all charges.
