Into the woods?

i am looking for a good part in into the woods. I have theater experience but my teacher is very favratistic and won't even give me a chance to play lead. what should i do?

You can only do the best audition you are capable of (sing a Sondheim song from another one of his shows), and if you don't get a lead, then make the best of the part that you are given.  Don't whine to ANYBODY about how much better you are than the teacher's favourite who got the part you wanted; be pleased for them, always be pleasant and do your part to the best of your ability (oh, and be nice to the crew!).  Some teachers do pick their favourites, and there's nothing you can do about that, but I've seen it happen time and time again that a favourite is cast in a big role, yet it's someone in a smaller role who has shone through as a highlight of the show for me, because they've absolutely made the best of what they were given, rather than a favourite who has coasted through because they know they're a favourite.  What goes around comes around, and you'll find a theatre group where you can get the parts you deserve.
