Introduce Technology; Diminish Controversies – Tennis Special
Why is there technology? To help the human beings and comfort them in every walk of life! Why cars were created? To help travel fast! Why was oven manufactured? To help cook and heat food with ease! Then why is technology not introduced
in the field of tennis? Why is it not available in the clay court season? Why hawk-eye is not introduced in Roland Garros French Open? This is beyond my thought process.
Seeing so many controversial decisions from umpires, forcing top players out of the tournament but still there is nothing done in this regard. Is it because the tennis officials love to see players in pain and frustration? Umpires
are not god gifted to accurately catch a ball spot especially on the clay court surface where there are millions of spots all over the courts. In the fourth round match at the Australian Open Championship between David Nalbandian and John Isner, one wrong
call from the umpire just ruined the sweet glory for the Argentine superstar who later on washed the face the official with some water...If you know what I mean! Why frustrate the world class acts at the most elite platforms? Why not introduce all sorts of
technologies and make the sport crystal clear with no wrong calls?
Similarly, the world of football is in shock to not witness a goal line technology implemented. I have seen number of cases where teams were stripped of a clear cut goal by the officials just because they couldn’t see the ball
crossing over the line where it actually did. Remember the match between England and Germany in the football world cup 2010 when Frank Lampard struck the ball beautifully and it hit the inside of the post and got over the line and then bounced back out. The
goal was not counted and sadly England was forced out of the tournament.
Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark was furious at the match referee when a clear cut long ball was called in just because there was no hawk-eye introduced in the French Open. The impact of that decision frustrated the Dane who later
on lost the match; furious with the official, she commented that have you ever gone to school or learned some manners because you are seriously not talking like a gentleman. Players put their bodies on the line for their professional sport; practice day and
night and such decisions just kill the humble soul inside.
Umpires should be the one that are ruled out of the contest if they make poor decision. Players should not be banned for a bad attitude or something like that. Why Nalbandian was fined for throwing water on the Australian official?
He was correct and he should have been awarded a point; umpire was wrong and deserved the treatment. Why s***w players from all sides.
My call for today; introduce all sorts of technologies that can improve the decision making of umpires. It is painful to see players being screwed all the time. I hope you guys will comply to my argument!
