Introducing 2 Adult Cats?

So I know that I've done it all wrong already, but how do I get my first cat to stop hissing at the new cat. The new cat is completely over her and ignores her and mainly just wants to be friends now. My first cat just won't get over herself. They are both females.

try getting the new cats scent on a towel and placing it under her food and water bowls. eventually she will get used to her smell and will not hiss at the sight of your new cat!

Keep the new cat in a room away from the other cat for a day or two... then let the existing cat into the new cat's territory and slowly introduce them ... it can take weeks to get them to get along but you will eventually see them lying together in peace :) Good Luck!

Keep them in separate rooms until they get used to each other.  Rub a cloth or towel on the new cat and put it next to the other cat.  Hopefully this will work!  :)

it may never work out. they are older cats and they. the first on might think that is that my replacment. best to start out with one or maybe 2 kittens. from the same liter. good luck. have time out. and lock down in separte bedrooms. kids can be trouble . lol

Time will make all the difference. Even though the first cat complains loudly that she will have none of this new feline, she will eventually accept her.

They may not sleep together but she will stop the hissy fits in the course of a week or so.

Sometimes the only thing you can do is wait.  I would separate them so they cant fight but eventually most cats learn to accept it.  Take it slow with introductions and try to spend some extra time with your original cat.  There are cats however that will never accept another cat.  Watch for any urinating outside the litter box cuz sometimes this can cause some behavioral issues!  Good Luck!
