I just got a chihuahua puppy, a girl. And I've brought her home. My pit bull puppy, blue is playful and gentle. But The Chi, PJ, is being mean i.e. growling and snapping at him. He seems to think she is playing, but I don't think she is.. any ideas?

  1. i think it would be fine as long as you never leave them alone together

  2. Chihuahuas are naturally like that. They are so small, so they have to make themselves appear bigger by acting aggressive.

Just don't leave them alone together. Should the chihuahua actually bite Blue, you don't know how he'll react. APBT's are naturally slightly aggressive towards smaller dogs (its nature) because of their prey drive. Just keep an eye on them until they get used to each other.

Not to mention, the APBT is probably the first big dog your Chi has ever seen before, so it doesn't know if its a dog or a monster, lol.

  3. i think female chihuahua are like a bear when some happens to there babies

  4. i never thought chihuahuas were very friendly.  their could be a size thing going that the chow is trying to prove she's tougher.  if the butt is in the air and the tail is wagging, she's playing.  if shes on her back legs in a solid stance, she's not.  the pit, as any other dog, will only put up with being snapped at for so long and will put the chi in her place hopefully not hurting her.  they'll find the pecking order and all will calm down.

  5. OMG I feel sick for that poor little Chi!  What have you got her into?  Are you nuts?  Get rid of the Pit!

  6. i think they are playing... just keep an eye on them
