Question:

Introducing two older cats?

My husband and I will be in the process of moving in a couple months. We have a 1 1/2 yr-old cat. She is an indoor cat, and is extremely shy of strangers. She will shake and hide in the most odd places to get away from a stranger or anything that is new to her. She will be staying with me at my parents house for a couple months while my husband finds a house and I finish school. The problem is that my parents have an older cat, a dog that I grew up with, and a new dog that I have never met. I'm not sure how to introduce her to the rest of the family. I'm worried because she is so shy. She is not declawed, but my parent's cat is. He is a very sweet cat around all people and even loves the dogs, I just don't know how he is around other cats he's never met. We had another cat that we had before we got him as a kitten, but she recently passed away. How should I handle the situation?

  1. Slowly introduce them and hope for the best and try not to force them to be together otherwise they'll hate u a lot!

  2. Cats never get along at first if they weren't raised together from kittenhood.  Since you said the other cat is very nice and one is shy, they probably won't try to hurt each other but your best bet is to try and keep them  apart.  Also make sure that the cat that lives with you knows it is not being replaced.

  3. Well The same thing happened to me, But i have 4 other cats i had to introduce it to and the new cat wasnt declawed. What i did was i put her just about 5 feet away from each other (i know this sound dangerous but it worked) and if she hissed, swatted,or the other cat did i got the feeling that they wouldn't get along so i didn't force it.pretty soon i found out that none of the cats got along with the new cat so i just let them be. Pretty soon all of the cats would just keep their space between lone another so if i were you i would do the same thing and if they don't like each other then they might never like each other, But they might learn to like each otherovertime! Good Luck!! ♥

  4. It sounds like this will be a difficult adjustment for your kitty. I suggest just keeping her in whatever room you'll be staying in with everything she needs (water, food, litter, toys). Don't force her to meet the other 4-legged friends. She'll come out when (or if) she's ready. If you're just going to move again later on, there's no point in stressing her out with a meet-and-greet.

  5. WELL LISTEN WELL.YOU CAN'T FORCED TWO CATS MEET JUST LIKE YOU CAN'T FORCE TWO ENERMIES TO GET ALONG.LEAVE THE TWO CATS ALONE TO MEET EACH OTHER.PEAK IF YOU ARE CURIOUS OF FIGHTING.CATS INSPECTS FIRSTLY! GIVE YOUR CAT SOMETIME OK.IF YOU FORCE THE CATS TO GET ALONG THEY MIGHT NOT LIKE EACH OTHER AND FIGHT! TO PREVENT THAT LET THE CATS INSPECT FIRSTLY OK.TRY THIS OK.BECAUSE ACTUALLY  I FORCED MY NEW MALE CATS TO MEET AND IT TURNED BADLY! BUT I LEARNT FROM MY MISTAKES! SO LETS TRY TO AVOID FIGHTS OK.GOOD LUCK! BYE!
