Question:

Introduction?

I have two winter white hamsters, male and female and they both got along really well for a week, (slept beside each other etc etc). They started fighting once and the female had blood on her nose. I seperated them immediately and when I called the breeder I brought them from, she told me the male probably made a move on her, and she rejected him. This caused the male to get 'angry' and attack her. She also told me to seperate them for a week and then put them together again. What I want to know is, how do I exactly introduce them? What do I wash the cage with before introducing them on neutral terms?

Note: I am ready for ALL babies and have confirmed homes for ALL of them. I have enough money for a vet as well and I have currently two cages.

  1. If you seeing them quarrelling with each other, separate them for some days. After few days keep them in a single cage and keep a check whether they calm around each other or not. If the cage is too small, put them in a bigger cage. It will be quite effective. In order to disinfect the cage, use child safe bleach spray. It is safe to put on babies toys or at any surface where they might put their mouth on. So I am sure it will also be safe for your pets.
