Inturpted window xp serivepack install.

Hi ,i went on holiday a few days ago and i was in a hurry to catch a plane. The computer was doing a automatic install and it was installing the service pack 3 . i canceled it and turned off computer . now i'm back and found out the computer cant boot .i triedsafee modesafe modee cmd , safe mode with networking,and starting windows normally non of those seem to work .When i tried any of those methods it just go back to the black menu screen bit . don'tnt want to lose any of the files on the computer .I didnt make any restore point since i got the computer and i dont want to resotre or systerm image restore the computer . Is there a way to fix this ? or whould the files still be there if i use the window xp disk and reinstall the windows or repair it?

  1. you can use an option called a repair install that will keep all the files and programs.

    boot from windows cd

    click on new install

    press F8

    choose Repair Install

    that should repair your windows


  2. If you don't have back-ups of the files, you may be screwed.
