  1. I believe there is cars that run on the grease you can get from the fries at fast food places.  Don't know what they are called.

  2. Most of out electricity from the electric company comes from burning coal...So if you go that route why not just have an electric car?

Compressed air to me looks like a somewhat promising technology...but an air compressor needs energy to run it(unless you plan on spending all day pumping air with a hand pump :P ) which ultimately goes back to electricity. The company in France that makes the air car says that to fill the tank with compressed air at like a gas station that has an air compressor is about $3. Heck the QT down the street air is free!!! But I'm sure if people were using it as a means to power their car they'd charge for it.

It seems in some way our alternative fuel sources you have to use fossil fuel in some way. Whether its the electrolysis of water for hydrogen, oil for gasoline, coal for electricity, natural gas, etc...its just a matter of finding the most efficient use of the fossil fuels.

Now the closest thing to "free" energy are

1)Solar power, which the technology unfortunately is not good enough to meet 100% of our needs. However, it has improved a lot and maybe one day it will be a great source.

2)Wind, wave, and tidal power placed in proper places can generate electricity to help alleviate the dependency of burning coal of electricity.

3)Using waste material. Such as extracting methane gas from cow dung.(But I don't know how effective it is to gather, transport, and extract methane from waste for it even to be a thing to consider)

4)Tons of theories of Zero-point energy pretty much energy we cannot see by traditional means but is there. But all these sources of "free" energy are just THEORIES like it said.

  3. Yes, here's the World's Cleanest Car that runs on compressed air.

"BBC News is reporting that a French company has developed a pollution-free car which runs on compressed air. India's Tata Motors has the car under production and it may be on sale in Europe and India by the end of the year.

The air car, also known as the Mini-CAT or City Cat, can be refueled in minutes from an air compressor at specially equipped gas stations and can go 200 km on a 1.5 euro fill-up -- roughly 125 miles for $3. The top speed will be almost 70 mph and the cost of the vehicle as low as $7000.

The car features a fibreglass body and a revolutionary electrical system and is completely computer-controlled. It is powered by the expansion of compressed air, using no combustion at all, and the exhaust is entirely clean and cool enough for use in the internal air conditioning system. "

  4. Coal in its raw form isn’t a good fuel for cars, there are coal liquefaction plants that can turn coal into a liquid fuel, but most of fuel can’t be run in cars.

Compressed air has some promise, but the car in its current state can’t pass the US safety standards.

If you’re goal is to get away from dino-oil, take a look at algae oil. Some strains of algae produce oil that can be converted into gasoline (and other types of fuel), or bio-diesel, depending on the strain of algae used. The US government studies say was can produce ALL our fuel needs from algae, and there are some test plants up and running. Hopefully in a few years you’ll be seeing a lot of them and we can stop importing any oil.

  5. theres always a way, they probaby just havent let it out yet. shame really.

  6. Coal is still a fossel fuel and would still deplete the o-zone layer

  7. Fusion, fission, superconductivity, or magnetism are basically your options.  Good luck with that, but if you get it done, God bless you.

Electricity is probably going to have to work for now.  How we GET the electricity, we have some control over.
