After being included in the World T20 squad, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 next month.
After making his international debut in 2005, following impressive stints at the Under-19 and domestic levels, White played some captivating innings and for a short period managed to cement his place in the limited-over format. In 2011 he was appointed as the T20 captain before being relieved off his duties after a poor run of form, including a disappointing World Cup.
White was further forced to relinquish his place in the national team after an unimpressive stint in the Big Bash League where he managed just 55 runs at 7.86 representing Melbourne Stars.
However, after a successful spell with Deccan Chargers – scoring 479 runs at an impressive strike rate of 149.68, including 5 fifties - the player has seemed to find his way back to form, further impressing the national selectors with his spin bowling during a recent training camp in Darwin.
Inverarity believes that this is the right time for the all-rounder to make a comeback into the team, especially when they are struggling to find the right balance in the wake of poor form shown by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-Barry-Smith-c91279. Also White’s experience of playing under sub-continent pitches will prove key.
“White was preferred to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and he had some very good innings there," Inverarity said in Perth.
"I think Cameron came back into the squad because we thought in a pressure situation with his experience, he might be better than the younger ones. So that was a factor there but generally we've just looked for the best balanced side and the best cricketers."
"He's in very good form. When he's at his best, he's a very destructive player. He's in good nick at the moment and we're really hoping he'll perform,” the selector concluded.
White’s first task will be to perform well in the three-match T20 series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
